Custodians - On Call/Casual An essential role in Service Operations Keeping our schools clean, well-maintained and safe is an essential function, and important to a positive school experience for our students. You'll take on a range of routine janitorial and custodial tasks, including cleaning, waxing hallways and stairs, securing the school at night and ensuring adequate heat and light. For non-routine problems and emergencies, you'll refer to a supervisor who may call upon you to shut off water, unplug sinks, toilets and drains as well as perform minor repairs. In the course of your work, you will also assist students, staff and the public as appropriate, locking or unlocking rooms, moving furniture or equipment and providing facility information. You will also assist with and maintain the recycling program. You have a working knowledge associated with the methods, materials and equipment needed for a high standard janitorial and custodial services, as well as sufficient knowledge of facilities and systems to safely respond to an emergency. Along with the strength and stamina needed for this physical role, you have a level of English that allows you to understand and carry out oral or written instructions, and to work effectively with students, staff and the public. Preferably, you have also completed a 3-month Building Service Worker course and have up to three months' related experience. This position offers a wage of $21.34 /hour. .
