A 4/4 VINTAGE DOUBLE BASS CA1950 This double bass is in good condition, but of course will need to be set up. It playe well and has the label of Johann Stuber inside it. Johann Stuber was a Dutch violin maker and the jury is out as to whether this was a bass that he built, or not, so this is priced to sell as is. There is a date of 1953 inside the bass, and we feel this bass was built around then. One local expert feels this was built in Germany and sold by Stuber, an expert in London believes this to be a rare build by Stuber himself. The bass comes with two bows, one silver tipped. The bass was owned by Ton Van Wageningen , a jazz player and also an accomplished Jazz photographer who published a book of superb photographs of jazz and blues musicians from the 1950's to the 70's. The bass is offered for pickup only (Vancouver Island), though we are prepared to build a wooden crate for shipping, but would prefer for the buyer to arrange their own shipping Company. A superb instrument offered at a realistic price. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions.
