We're Val Mart Door Sales and we design, build, and install specialty industrial doors throughout south-western British Columbia. For over 40 years, we've built everything from airport hangar doors to large truck doors for warehouses. We'll give you a great job where you can work with your hands, and make sure the product is ready on schedule. We'll teach you how to drive a forklift and cover your certification. And we'll start you at $16.00 to $19.00 per hour according to your abilities and experience. We provide a clear career path for workers who show us they are ready for more responsibility. The last person doing this job was promoted and you'll have the same opportunity. Shop workers who show promise can grow in responsibility and compensation in higher level positions in the shop, or transition to field installation. Your goal will be to help with everything we do in the shop and to prep the doors for the installers. you will cut windows into door panels, assemble track and hardware and move things around the shop with the forklift. You'll be learning the ins and outs of how the doors are prepped and built. You'll thrive in this job if you are ready to work and if you're good at solving problems. You've also got the brawn to lift and move the hardware and springs we use to build our doors. The Specifics This full-time job works out of our shop in Surrey. We have work year-round, Monday to Friday, from 7:30 to 4:30. There are options to work overtime when orders allow for it. On top of your wage of $16-19 per hour commensurate with experience, we have a great medical and dental plan. Depending on your performance, there are many opportunities for growth and advancement in the future as well. Who We're Looking For If you're motivated, hard-working and a quick learner, most of what you'll be doing can be learned on the job. Here are some of the other things that will help: Experience working in a shop (an asset) Experience working with anything mechanical (an asset) A valid driver's license Ability to handle periods of physical manual labour Ability to do minor mig welding is an asset.
