This pretty German piece was handmade in the 1850s, around the Biedermeier era. Its known as Bauern Silber...aka .Farmers silver or Silver Glass,... which means it has been handblown in a double cavity form and then filled with silver, usually 99.9%. See the hole on the bottom which has been sealed off. It is in pristine condition, amazing for its age, and adds a genuine bit of history to your Christmas table. It stands 3.5 inches high and I have used it for cranberry sauce ( although don t put it in the dishwasher afterwards!!!).
