Gambling Educators Required in Surrey and Langley/Maple Ridge

The BC Responsible & Problem Gambling Program a division of the Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch within the Ministry of Attorney General, is looking for three Prevention Service Providers in the Lower Mainland (Surrey x 2, and Maple Ridge/Langley area). Fluency in Hindi/Punjabi is an asset for one of the positions within Surrey. These are contracted positions paying an average of $55.00/hour and range between $50,000 and $80,000 per year, plus additional funds for travel fees and expenses. These positions provide public education and awareness through presentations, workshops, and training for health care providers in the area of gaming, gambling, and addictive process; and community engagement, and relationship building/networking with the general community, cultural communities, at-risk groups, and social service agencies within the geographic boundaries of the contract. A background in the helping fields is a necessity for these positions. You must have some experience in either community work or education, and must possess a diploma/degree in Social Work, Education, Community Development, Leadership, Counselling, or related helping field. If you do not possess the necessary education or experience, you will be screened out of the application process. These positions require an independent, highly motivated person that is willing to learn about the field of gaming/gambling, and has a desire to work flexible hours. Training in addiction, gaming, gambling, and cultural safety is provided, and you are expected to certify as a Problem Gambling Information Specialist after two years with our program.
