the necks and bodies for these guitars were USA-made at the US Corona plant,Special Editions were made only in Mexico and only in 2003 (there are a couple of very rare exceptions that were made in 2002);this one was made in 2002, it was designed to demonstrate the wider range of paint and finish capabilities that Fender had placed in its new manufacturing plant in Mexico. Although there are about a dozen general variations in this guitar each guitar is unique and its paint is considered a work of art and is copyrighted."these early Mexican Fender Strats were really American guitars, which just happened to be assembled off site...
