Shelter: BC SPCA - Maple Ridge
Animal ID: 431763
Birthdate: May 04, 2016 - Adult
Cooper was just transferred down from the Williams lake Branch. He is a young male hound, he is a mix including a Slovensky Kopov otherwise known as a Slovakian Hound or a Black Forest Hound. Cooper is a little shy of new people and will need an experienced trainer with breed specific knowledge and a calm manner. Cooper is house broken and now working on leash manners while he awaits neutering. He is medium size weighing about 40 lbs.
*Cooper has recently been exposed to a dog with Kennel Cough, the common name given to infectious canine tracheobronchitis, is a highly contagious respiratory disease among dogs. As the name suggests, it is typified by inflammation of the trachea and bronchi.
Though Cooper currently is showing NONE of these symptoms he must be monitored for the next 2 weeks so we are looking for a foster to adopt home with someone that is willing to treat him if required (treatment would be at the expense of the SPCA):
Symptoms to monitor for are:
-A persistent cough is the most common symptom
-Watery nasal discharge
-In mild cases, dogs are often active and eating normally
-In severe cases, symptoms progress and can include pneumonia, inappetence, fever, and lethargy.
For more information or to meet with Cooper please call the shelter at 604-463-9511 or come down during are adoption hours.
